Nightline Europe advocacy
Our goal: to foster the development of ambitious and coordinated mental health policies at the European level.
Our recommendations
In 2025, Nightline Europe published a landmark report on student mental health, drawing on insights from tens of thousands of calls and chats across its network.
This work set out a practical blueprint for action, identifying seven priority areas for policymakers, higher education institutions (HEIs), and stakeholders across Europe.
Student mental health is shaped by more than access to care. Financial pressure, housing, academic stress, social isolation, and inequality all play a role. Yet these factors are rarely addressed together. A “whole of university” and cross-policy approach is essential.
